TD Canada Trust

TD business customers send EFT payments through TD Web Business Banking, the bank's online platform for commercial clients. A TD business banking or cash management representative adds the EFT service to your profile, confirms your limits and approvers, and assigns an Originator ID that identifies your company on every file.

With Zefty, your Originator ID and account details are entered once. From then on, every file you generate from Zoho Books is built to CPA 005 and to what TD Web Business Banking expects, and every payment is recorded in Zoho Books the moment the file is generated, partial payments included.

How it works

  1. Enable EFT origination with TD

Contact your TD business banking representative and ask to activate EFT origination on TD Web Business Banking. TD confirms the service agreement, your limits and which users may upload and approve files.

  2. Get your Originator ID

TD assigns your Originator ID when the service goes live. It identifies your company on every file, so keep it exactly as TD issued it.

  3. Confirm your account details

Gather the transit number of your branch, the institution number 004 and your business account number. A voided cheque or your account details in TD Web Business Banking shows all three.

  4. Enter them in Zefty once

Choose TD Canada Trust during setup, enter your business name as TD has it, your Originator ID and your account details. Zefty keeps them for every file that follows.

  5. Generate, upload and approve

Select bills, choose a payment date and download your file. Upload it in TD Web Business Banking, release it through your approval workflow, and Zefty records the payments in Zoho Books.

Help

  • Ask TD whether it wants a test file before your first live upload. Test mode gives you a complete file to validate and records nothing in Zoho Books.
  • Keep the business name in Zefty identical to the name on your TD account, so the originator on the file matches TD's records.
  • Keep vendor banking details in Zoho Books. Zefty reads them at every sync and holds back any bill whose vendor is missing information, before a file exists.

TD and Zefty: common questions

TD issues it when it activates EFT origination on your TD Web Business Banking profile, usually with your service agreement. Ask your TD business banking representative if you cannot find it.

Usually not. TD ties an Originator ID to one legal entity and one settlement account. If you run several companies, create one organization per company in Zefty, each with its own bank profile and its own Zoho Books connection, all from one login. The Team plan includes multiple organizations.

TD Web Business Banking tells you why, and the report kept with that file in Zefty shows exactly what was sent, line by line, so the cause is easy to spot. Correct the vendor's details in Zoho Books and generate a fresh file. Our support team can help by email in English or French.

Yes. Enter the amount you want to pay on the bill before generating the file. The file carries the partial amount, the payment recorded in Zoho Books uses the same amount, and the remaining balance stays open on the bill.
