Scotiabank
Scotiabank business clients originate EFT payments through Scotia ConnectDigital Banking, the bank's cash management platform. Your Scotiabank relationship manager or cash management team confirms the service agreement, sets up your approvers and assigns an Originator ID that identifies your company on every file. Scotiabank usually asks for a test file before the first live upload.
That test is where Zefty pays off first. Turn on test mode, generate a file from your Zoho Books bills and upload it for validation; nothing is recorded in Zoho Books. Once Scotiabank confirms it, switch test mode off and every live file is built to CPA 005 and to what Scotia ConnectDigital Banking expects, with numbering handled for you.
How it works
-
Enable EFT origination with Scotiabank
Ask your Scotiabank relationship manager to add EFT origination to your Scotia ConnectDigital Banking profile. The bank confirms your limits, approval rules and which users may upload and release payment files.
-
Get your Originator ID
Scotiabank issues your Originator ID when the service is active. It identifies your company on every file, so keep it exactly as the bank provided it.
-
Confirm your account details
Note the transit number of your branch, the institution number 002 and your business account number. Compare them against a cheque or your account details in Scotia ConnectDigital Banking.
-
Enter them in Zefty once
Choose Scotiabank during setup, enter your business name as the bank has it, your Originator ID and your account details. Zefty keeps them for every file that follows.
-
Test, then generate, upload and approve
With test mode on, generate a file and upload it in Scotia ConnectDigital Banking for validation. Once Scotiabank confirms it, turn test mode off, generate your live file, upload it and approve it. Zefty records the payments in Zoho Books.
Help
- Do not skip the Scotiabank test file. Zefty marks it as a test the way Scotiabank recognizes, and nothing is recorded in Zoho Books.
- File numbering is handled for you, including when you move to Zefty from another system, so your first live file starts where Scotiabank expects.
- Every file is kept, test or live, and can be downloaded again with its report. If you need to upload a file a second time, re-download it rather than regenerating it.
- Keep vendor names and banking details current in Zoho Books. Zefty takes both from there, so what your bank sees is what your books say.
Scotiabank and Zefty: common questions
Scotiabank issues it when it activates EFT origination on your Scotia ConnectDigital Banking profile, usually in the confirmation from your relationship manager. Ask your Scotiabank contact if you cannot locate it.
No. In test mode, Zefty generates the complete file and keeps it marked as a test, but records no payment in Zoho Books. Your bills stay open until you generate a live file, so you can validate with Scotiabank with no cleanup afterwards.
Only the bills you select, and only if every vendor in the selection has complete banking details in Zoho Books. Bills with missing details are flagged and held back before a file exists, so nothing incomplete reaches the bank.
Yes. Zefty asks for a payment date each time you generate a file, and Scotiabank processes the credits on that date, subject to its own cut-off rules. Confirm those with the bank when the service is set up.
