Laurentian Bank

Laurentian Bank business clients manage electronic payments through Laurentian Bank Business Solutions, the bank's online services for companies. Your business account manager enrols your company in the EFT service, confirms your limits and approvers, and provides the Originator ID that identifies your company on every file.

With Zefty, you enter your Originator ID and account details once. Every file you generate afterwards from Zoho Books is built to CPA 005 and to what Laurentian Bank Business Solutions expects, with totals and numbering handled for you, and every file is kept with a readable report you can review with the bank.

How it works

  1. Enable EFT origination with Laurentian Bank

Contact your Laurentian Bank business account manager and ask to enrol in EFT origination through Laurentian Bank Business Solutions. The bank confirms the agreement, your limits and the users who may upload and approve files.

  2. Get your Originator ID

Laurentian Bank issues your Originator ID when the service is active. It identifies your company on every file, so keep it exactly as provided.

  3. Confirm your account details

Note the transit number of your branch, the institution number 039 and your business account number. Verify them against a cheque or your online account details.

  4. Enter them in Zefty once

Choose Laurentian Bank during setup, enter your business name as the bank has it, your Originator ID and your account details. Zefty keeps them for every file that follows.

  5. Generate, upload and approve

Select bills, choose a payment date and download your file. Upload it through Laurentian Bank Business Solutions, approve it, and Zefty records the payments in Zoho Books.

Help

  • Ask your account manager how Laurentian Bank wants the first file validated. Test mode gives you a complete file and records nothing in Zoho Books.
  • Confirm the bank's cut-off time for same-day processing and choose your payment date accordingly.
  • Point Zefty at your Zoho Books approval view so only approved bills can be selected for payment.

Laurentian Bank and Zefty: common questions

Yes. Laurentian Bank accepts files that follow Payments Canada Standard 005, whatever produced them. Zefty builds every file to that standard and to what Laurentian Bank expects. Confirm with your account manager that EFT origination is active on your account before you upload.

Your business account manager provides it when EFT origination is activated on your account. Contact the bank if you cannot locate it.

Each Zefty organization has its own bank profile and its own Zoho Books connection, all from one login. If your companies share an Originator ID and settlement account with the bank's agreement, enter the same details in each organization. Multiple organizations are included in the Team plan.

A readable, field-by-field record of what was sent: who the originator is, each payment with its amount, payment date and vendor, and the totals for the file. It is kept with every file and can be downloaded again at any time, for an auditor, a board or the bank.
