For accounting and bookkeeping firms

EFT payment files for accountants and bookkeepers

Your clients run on Zoho Books. Their banks each want a CPA 005 EFT 1464 file with that client's originator details and that bank's requirements. Zefty gives every client entity its own organization, so a payment run is the same four steps whoever the client is and whichever bank they use.

What slows down a multi-client payables practice

Every client is a different bank

One client is at RBC, the next at Desjardins, the third at TD. Each has its own originator ID and its own file requirements. A template built for one client fails for the next.

Month-end lands on the same day for everyone

Payment runs for a dozen clients pile up in the same week. Any manual step, from typing vendor accounts to recording payments in Zoho Books, is multiplied by the number of clients.

Clients want proof, not promises

A client or their auditor asks what was paid, to whom, when and from which file. A text file in a folder is not an answer; a readable report linked to the payment in Zoho Books is.

Handoffs between staff

A junior prepares, a senior reviews, the client approves. When that flow lives in spreadsheets and email, nobody is sure which version of the file went to the bank.

One client payment run, start to finish

  1. Switch to the client organization

Pick the client from your organization menu. Their bank setup, originator details and Zoho Books connection load with it. No re-entry, no risk of sending one client's file under another client's identity.

  2. Sync and select approved bills

Bills and vendor details sync every night and on demand. Point Zefty at the client's approval view in Zoho Books, such as "Approved for payment", so only bills the client has signed off on can be selected.

  3. Generate the file and get it uploaded

Enter partial amounts where needed, choose the payment date and download the file. Send it to the client to upload in their bank portal, or upload it yourself if you hold that authority, and approve it there.

  4. File the report

Download the readable report for the run and attach it to the client's month-end package. The payments are already recorded in their Zoho Books.

Built for firms

One organization per client

Create an organization for each client entity, each with its own bank setup, Zoho Books connection and file numbering. Switch between them from your organization menu. Included with the Team plan.

Approval stays in Zoho Books

Point each organization at a Zoho Books view of approved bills. Only bills in that view can be paid, which is how you enforce a client's approval step before anything reaches the bank.

Readable report for every file

Every file comes with a PDF report that lists each payment in plain language, plus a payment history linked to the payment in Zoho Books. Audit questions take minutes, not afternoons.

Seats for your team

Add staff as users on the Team plan at $14 per additional user per month. Add or remove users any time; a seat is released the moment you remove someone.

Accounting firms and Zefty: common questions

Yes. Each client is an organization in Zefty with its own bank setup and Zoho Books connection, and you switch between them from your organization menu. Multi-organization is part of the Team plan at $43 per month in CAD, plus $14 per additional user per month for staff you add.

Either, depending on the authority the client has given you in their bank portal. Zefty produces the file and the report; where it is uploaded is your decision. Many firms send the file with the report for approval and let the client upload and release it under their own signing rules.

EFT origination must be active on the client's business account, which gives them an originator ID, and their vendors' banking details must be stored in Zoho Books. The client authorizes the connection from their Zoho account in a few clicks. The onboarding guide walks through it.

Open the client's payment history, find the file by number or date and download its report. It lists every payment with the amount, payment date, payee and account, and each paid bill links to the payment recorded in Zoho Books.

Run every client's payments the same way

Set up one organization per client, connect their Zoho Books and generate compliant EFT 1464 files for whichever bank they use. Team plan from $43 per month in CAD.
